DELAHAYE is a French carmaker founded in 1895 which produced cars (sedans, coupes) and utility vehicles (trucks, buses, all-terrain vehicles) for individuals and professionals until 1955.
The manufacturer notably illustrates its know-how through the creation of prestigious and competition cars with which it won the Monte Carlo Rally (1937, 1939 and 1951) as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1938).
It is these same vehicles, very popular with collectors, which have earned the manufacturer international fame.
The history

An all-terrain vehicle intended to replace the Jeep Willys, the VLR (Liaison and Reconnaissance Vehicle) was ordered from DELAHAYE by the French government in order to revive the post-war automotive industry.
Produced in 9,623 units before disappearing with the manufacturer, the VLR Type 182 was destined for a bright future. Strong, durable and efficient, DELAHAYE saw in it the future of the utility vehicle for the civilian market, designed to perform everyday tasks.
This is how the idea of reviving the DELAHAYE brand and its emblematic VLR was born. A new vehicle adapted to the mobility challenges of tomorrow: the VLR T282.
The VLR heritage

Since its creation, DELAHAYE has used the word "Type" followed by a number to name its vehicles. That's why the manufacturer's first model was named the Type 1 or T1, as it was customary to use the letter T as an abbreviation.
In this way, the first VLR was named the VLR T182. The rule being that any new version of an existing model has its hundreds unit incremented, so we created the VLR T282.
As a reference to our first achievement, which illustrates our vision of the future of light electric mobility, we decided to keep the T282 reference to name our company and sign our products.
